What Is the Preparation for HyProCure Surgery?
The preparation for HyProCure surgery is relatively simple. You will need to have a consultation with our team of experts to ensure that you are a good candidate for the procedure. Once you have been cleared for surgery, we will provide you with specific instructions on how to prepare for your surgery date.
These include:
- A review of your current medication list
- Stop taking anti-inflammatory medications two weeks prior to surgery
- Arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery
- Buy supportive shoes to wear after surgery
- Try to quit smoking at least four weeks before the surgery to maximize your body’s ability to heal.
- Prep your home for your post-operative recovery as you will need to take it easy for the first few weeks after surgery.
What Can I Expect on the Day of the Surgery?
Because it is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia, we perform the surgery right here in our office.
The operation itself only takes 20 minutes, so you can expect to be in and out within an hour or two.
After the procedure is complete, you will be given a post-operative care packet that includes detailed instructions on how to care for your feet during the recovery process.
In most cases, you will be able to walk also immediately after surgery, but we do recommend that you take it easy for the first few weeks and you will need someone to drive you home from the surgery.
What Can I Expect After HyProCure Surgery?
After HyProCure surgery, you can expect to experience some swelling and bruising around the surgical site. This is normal and will subside over time.
The first set of bandages will be applied in the operating room and will need to be kept on for seven days.
At this point, you should begin to change the bandages once a day.
You will need to wear loose and comfortable shoes for approximately four to six weeks, and we will see you back in our office periodically to make sure your feet are healing properly.
